The UK TV station Dave will air the third season of Dara O Briain’s Go 8 Bit on Monday 12th of February. Both team captains Steve McNeil and Sam Pamphilon return along with gaming expert Ellie Gibson.
Go 8 Bit evolved from a frantic, running and audience involved live show which used smartphones to allow two teams and guest comedians to do battle in retro games. In the TV show, Dara O Briain presides over five rounds of mayhem as two celebrity guests sit with their captains and battle each other for victory. In an era when big name companies are aggressively experimenting with the boom in esports this retro and family fun variant is a clever tactical investment by Dave.
Geek Native readers may already know about WiFi Wars. This is a Twitch/YouTube/Mixer broadcast which features Steve McNeil, tech guru Rob Sedgebeer, and uniquely allows the audience to play along via their smartphone. This writer believes it to be the first of a kind. In February WiFi Wars will change its regular slots to air immediately after the 10-11pm broadcast of Go 8 Bit. It’s a chance to play retro esports with the host from Go 8 Bit and see whether you make the top 10.
Steve McNeil told Geek Native;
Sadly, we weren’t able to put together a new series of the spin off show “Go 8 Bit DLC” to broadcast straight after the main show this time so we’re hoping that people will enjoy coming online to play games with me and Rob instead!
