Toy Vault is asking for US$40,000 to fund The Princess Bride RPG Kickstarter. At the time of writing, there are 27 days still on the clock and US$25,00 raised. Impressively, nearly 50 fans have pledged US$200 for the cherry wood box “The Inconceivable Edition”. You can follow the campaign progress at the main page.
A pledge of $25 will get you the PDF of the game – which uses Fudge – and any of the digital stretch goals. If you step up to $50 then you’ll get the book and PDF whereas $85 will get you the Deluxe Book along with the 16″x24″ folded map of Florin.
Toy Vault has brought in Steffan O’Sullivan to write the game. He’s already known for his work on Fudge along with GURPS: Swashbuckler which seems like a good combination for the game.
Want to sample the game before you pledge any cash? Toy Vault has put together a free to download collection of Quick Start Rules you can sample now.
Some of the perks are available as add-ons and I imagine the Princess Bride Fudge dice might be popular. The stretch goals feel like a long way off right now but $50,000 unlocks a PDF of the Thieve’s Forest which is an additional map of where Miracle Max has his place and a quick play sheet, $60,000 unlocks the Guilder map and there’s a $70,000 target that’s yet to be announced.
