I’ve a pile of GM screens behind me. They’re cardboard constructions designed to cut off the end of the table so I can hide notes from players. Except, my gaming set up doesn’t suit that design. I don’t lean on that many rules and I’d rather be sociable. As a result Dog Might’s Kickstarter pitch spoke to me.

As you’d expect a custom piece of woodwork isn’t cheap but nor do I think Dog Might are taking the piss. In fact, I hope they can make all these products on the schedule they expect. At the time of writing there’s still 9 days on the clock and about 215 backers.
A pledge of US$169 (about £120) gets you a complete GM System, but you need to hit $199 for the ‘Fiery’, $249 for ‘Premium’ and $299 for ‘Mythic’. The difference is the quality (and scarcity) of the wood. You will have a lot of choices to make in this Kickstarter. ‘Custom’ includes wood like red oak, ebony and dark walnut, Fiery adds custom lacquers in colors of ‘demon’s blood’, ‘moss’, ‘kickstarter green’ and ‘abyssal black’ and if you hit premium then you get woods like ‘black walnut’, ‘leopardwood’ and ‘cherry’. Mythic brings in the likes of ‘wenge’, ‘canarywood’ and ‘chechen’.
And to be honest; I don’t know enough about carpentry or wood to make an informed decision.
Dog Might does try to help by providing summary costs – you know, should you aspire not only to have your GM System in one wood type but all your accessories too. It’s a big difference. A fullset of Custom costs $429 and Mythic hikes it up to $729.
If money is no question then for $2,500 they’ll fly you in for a weekend of gaming (hotels and flights included – USA domestic only).
At the time of writing they are at US$42K which means the Zodiac engraving stretch goal is unlocked. We might even hit $50k which will give every Game Master System backer a Dog Might pin.
