Here’s an idea that’ll be popular with DMs who make good use of heavy card screens and who like to organise. These dice towers don’t sit on the table and take up space, they clip onto the GM screen and catch dice in trays to stop them escaping.
I think there are a few advantages of this style of clip-on dice tower. There’s the psychology of letting the players see when the DM is dropping dice and allowing them to see which dice tower is in use. The fact that you could have a dice tower for each player brings me to the second use for them; why not use these dice trays as initiative counters? I don’t mean re-arrange the order of the towers with each combat but do keep dice in the plate with the players’ initiative score on display.
These towers can be bought from the retailer OddForge and are reviewing very well. They’re made to order and ship in one to two weeks from the US (and to most places). You can check out their store and other dice tower ideas over at Etsy.
