The Blood of Salvora is a new addition, but not a new edition to the Slavic and Mediterranean inspired dark fantasy RPG. If you’ve already got the core rules, then this Kickstarter could be worth $30 in credit for you. You can read more and follow the campaign here.
Let’s take a look at the pledge tiers. US$19 will unlock the Awaken Core RPG in PDF, get your name in the book and all the digital stretch goals.
This tier also gets you the Awaken Quickstart PDF, but that’s currently free to download from here anyway.
The treats pile on quickly. Say you want to jump up to $35. That’ll get you the Awaken Core Rulebook in PDF, the Awaken: The Blood of Salvora PDF, your name in the book and any digital stretch goal. $99 (there are tiers in between) and you’re at the Awaken Core Rulebook, Awaken: The Blood of Salvora both of the above in PDF, Map of Salvora in PDF, the Narrator’s Screen in PDF, a new soundtrack, your name in the book and the stretch goals. There’s even a box, the blood box, up at $229 which gets you posters, t-shirts, dice and more. The tiers go higher even still. There’s no doubting Studio 2 Publishing’s ambition with this one.
I suspect the collectable resin figure will be a big draw.
How are they doing? At the time of writing, they have over $4,000 in pledges from 72 backers, 27 days on the clock and a goal of $18,000. That run rate looks good, but it means they’ll have to avoid having a mid-campaign slump.
What’s in The Blood of Salvora? This campaign setting looks at the eleven nation-states, known as Great Cities, and their domains. There’s a host of characters, special powers and ways for characters to control Colossi.
Awaken is an RPG with a recommended age of 16 and up.
How do you get $30 in credit from Awaken: The Blood of Salvora
If you already have a copy of the core Awaken RPG, you might not want to splash the cash on the higher tiers and get another copy. The Studio 2 Publishing team have thought of that.
If you hit the Fan Tier (that’s $99 or up) then, once all the backer processing concludes, you’ll get an extra $30 instead for shipping or additional Add-ons. This bonus credit, I think, is a shrewd move and I wish we saw it more often.
Who’s involved in the project?
There’s a good team here. There’s Michael D Coker who contributed to Conan Age Undreamed and who works on the Savage Worlds Sourcebook by Mystic Throne Entertainment, there’s the streamer Simone Maccapani, the Italian journalist Riccardo Gallori and the translator and gamer Daniele Gabrielli. Also, there’s also Evil Hat’s line editor Joshua Yearsley who is no stranger to working with other, smaller, publishers.
