This clever and unfolding DM screen was built by Jeremy Mortensen. The Oregon based gamer completed the craft project all without the aid of a design and made heavy use of scrap materials. Now, after sharing the video on Facebook, other gamers are asking him for blueprints or whether or not there are plans to build and sell more.
I think the 3D design of the screen is impressive. This feels to me to be better than having players watching some wobbling cardboard screen that might remind older gamers of a 70s Doctor Who set. Now there may well be cardboard in Jeremy’ design, but it doesn’t look flimsy to me!
It’s the dice towers which I applaud; one that faces towards the DM and one towards the players. That’s a good feature.
I’m reminded of these clip on dice towers which also made good use of being part of the DM screen. In terms of visual appeal, though, Jeremy’s design is on par with this sculpted tower.
There are no declared plans to make more and sell any of these screens which begs the question; where do I go if I want one? Etsy is your best bet.
The best match I could find was someone like Centaur Games with this handmade castle or this one with dice towers. Alternatively, if you just want to get away from cardboard the someone like CritIt and their Beholder Premmium Hardwood might suit you.
