White Wolf is publishing World of Darkness products again and Vampire: The Masquerade 5th edition launched at Gen Con this week.
But what of the company that kept the franchise alive for the last few years? Onyx Path has established itself through a series of very successful Kickstarters and quality products that fans appreciated.
There’s good news as founder and creative director Rich Thomas has announced Onyx Path Publishing will be making a Vampire 5th edition supplement.
Onyx Path will publish Chicago By Night. The original was one of the essential sourcebooks in the Vampire line up, and this edition will expand and refresh on the city. It’ll have Clan Lasombra with Obtenebration rules, playable for the first time in Vampire 5e. It’ll also update the metaplot to explain the Kindred hierarchy of Chicago.
As you might expect from Onyx Path, there will be a Kickstarter to fund the book but also a prestige edition for collectors. Rich Thomas told press;
The original Chicago By Night was the book that took all the innovative and inspiring ideas from the first Vampire: The Masquerade books and crystallized them into a society of vampires. It demonstrated how these fascinating Clans actually functioned to a real city, and was the blueprint and font for everything that came after,” s
“We’re thrilled to be able to create the V5 edition of Chicago By Night, and are designing it with the same eye towards taking all the threads of ideas in V5 and weaving them into the dark tapestry that is Chicago.”
Matthew Dawkins a contributor to Vampire: the Masquerade 5th edition will be the developer for Onyx’s Chicago.
