Heritage Auction successfully sold Frank Frazetta’s oil painting for US$660,000. The iconic fantasy painter did the painting as a cover for the novel Escape on Venus by Edgar Rice Burroughs in 1974.
Right now, on Amazon.co.uk you can find the 1984 printing of Escape on Venus with the Frazetta painting for a little as 1p or as much as £100. As impressive as $660,000 is the price tag makes it only the third most expensive Frazetta that Heritage Auction has sold.
The second most expensive Frazetta sold at Heritage was At The Earth’s Core which went for over a million at US$1,075,500. Blowing the others away in the first place is Death Dealer 6 which sold for an incredible $1,792,500.
