As Geek Native reported in January Oynx Path has the Dystopia Rising license and today they’ve launched their Kickstarter.
A pledge of US$20 will get you a PDF of the core book and US$50 gets you both the Dystopia Rising: Evolution core book in hardcover and PDF for ‘at cost’ print on demand.
For your money, you’ll get a tabletop RPG set sometime after a zombie apocalypse. In Dystopia Rising: Evolution the surviving humans became mutants and in game terms, this gives you a range of Lineages and Strains to play characters from.
Onyx Path Publishing is vets at running Kickstarter. If you look at the risk section of the pitch, there are additional terms and conditions which you accept by backing (though I wonder what Kickstarter’s legal team would make of that). They’re sensible ones: if you need to give your information in a timely way, if you ignore BackerKit and your downloads have timed out then they have timed out, and it is up to you to keep your shipping address up to date.
The takeaway, always to important with Kickstarter, is that you’re not doing a pre-order. You’re pledging money to enable a book to be written and printed.
Dystopia Rising: Evolution will use the Storypath system which is Onyx Path’s solution for games in which you could be an ordinary person or someone with power. The basic system means you roll some d10 equal to your Skill plus Attribute and must get dice with 8, 9 or 10 enough times to succeed.

Who are Eschaton Media
The partner in this Kickstarter is Eschaton Media. They own and created the Dystopia Rising Universe along with the CHRONOS Universal LARP. If you have a title of your own which you fancy turning into a LARP or even an Augmented Reality Game, then they’d like to hear from you.
Geek Native interviewed Eschaton and Ashley Zdeb back in 2013 when the CHRONOS System had its own time in Kickstarter. In the interview Zdeb praised the genre;
We all come out to the LARP world because we want the share in the same amazing communal stories, victories, and defeats.
It was Michael Pucci who talked to the press about Dystopia Rising: Evolution, saying;
Working with Eddy and the team we’ve put together for Dystopia Rising: Evolved was fantastic. Over the past year or so we have been finding ways to introduce aspects of the world that both myself as a designer, and the Dystopia Rising fan base, have wanted to see that we could never actualize before. This project is bringing the entire Dystopia Rising universe to a whole new level which makes me incredibly excited and proud,”
