An eagle-eyed reader has spotted what looks to be a similar set over at My Geek Box. This time the collectable coins are Disney branded (it’s the same company these days).
My Geek Box is more overt about the collector’s investment here. They’re saying, without beating around the bush, that each coin is worth at least £15 and you’re getting 24 of them. They even mention the full recommended retail price for the collection is £479.99. I can’t make the maths work, either. A bonus for the entire set?
How much are they charging? £59.99, that’s the same as Zavvi does for the Marvel and Star Wars coins. There’s also only going to be 5,000 of these sets made worldwide.
It looks like Disney’s strategy is to create a range of limited collectables and share them with different retailers.
