Ben Doran’s idea is to help DMs put the magic back into magic chests or even those chests you get at the end of a battle. Rather than risk forgetting to put some exotic loot in your notes for the Moglan magic item cards let the players get a more visual experience and something to be excited over.
But this is the toughest of all Kickstarter pitches; mixing computer games with tabletop RPGs. Gamers have been burnt many times by this mix and are slow to open their pledge wallets.
There’s still 15 days on the clock but with $3,000+ of a $26,000 goal in the bank it is clear Moglan’s magic hasn’t had a strong start.
A pledge of US$25 is all it takes to secure the core deck and fans can get a themed deck as a bonus by stepping up to US$35. The pledges go all the way up to $500 which is limited and already has backers.
My hunch is that Moglan’s DND 5e augmented reality magic cards will surface. It’s just a matter of time and even if it doesn’t happen on this try it may still be worth backing the project just to get onto the mailing list.
