Do you think humanity will make contact with alien life before you die? It’s a big universe out there, right, but the chances of space travelling evolution co-existing in the same frame of time us are also very small.
Geek Native doesn’t have the answers. However, a few years the blog did host a competition to win a copy of Indepedence Day Resurgence the official novel. As part of that competition, we asked people what they thought. Now, this isn’t a robust statistical analysis. We didn’t get enough responses. We didn’t carefully frame the questions as to preclude bias. However, we did have fun.
Humanity divided
It turns out; we’re not sure.
In Geek Native’s survey, just about 51% of respondents thought we would meet alien life before they died. We didn’t ask the question of ‘Do you think we’ve already met alien life?’ and nor did we even define alien life.
Gamers more likely to believe in alien contact
In Geek Native surveys we often ask a secondary question so we can compare and contrast the difference between the two groups of answers. This time around we asked whether or not whether they are gamers or not.
Looking at the gamers only we see that 55% of gamers thought we would find alien life in their lifetime. That is 10% higher than non-gamers.
What do you think?
