Last year Geek Native found this project by Canadian FX artist Rynn Gallagher that transformed the official WizKids and D&D red dragon head.
The original head was good, but Gallagher’s transformation was amazing.
It seems like WizKids and Wizards of the Coast took notice and upped their game. This year they have a $450 black dragon head for wealthy gamers to adorn walls with. It’s quite a trophy.
The dragon head is made from foam rubber and latex, and the whole thing has been hand-painted. The idea is very much that you put the dragon plaque on the wall of your gaming den and so it comes with everything you need to hang the piece.
Wizkids note that the dragon is very heavy. It’s between 14 and 16 pounds. They insist you install the head to a structural element (not plasterboard, etc.) and use 2″ x 4″ wall studs and they recommend you get a professional installation. Won’t that amuse a fitter who may be more used to attaching flatscreen TVs to walls?
Not in the States? Right now Amazon will ship the black dragon to the UK. The catch? That’ll cost an extra $350!
