It’s not often you see 13,000 dice stacked up against the wall but you can here.
These are the wrong dice. There are about 170lbs of these d6, and they all needed to go back to the shop. What a disaster!
A portrait out of 13,000 dice
How did 13,000 of the wrong dice end up stacked in an apartment? The story begins when this annoymous Imgur artist wanted to fill a space on the wall. He notes;
One thing my home was lacking was a single large piece of art, so I decided to take an idea I had in college – to recreate an image with thousands of dice – and build it out for real. The first step was to figure out just *how* big I wanted it to be (more specifically, how much money I was willing to spend on dice) so I taped out a couple of rough size options.
You can follow the process of building the frame, measuring the dice to fit and then to discover the delivery of thousands of d6 had gone wrong over on Imgur but you can see the results here.
Incredibly, it is possible to turn 13,000 spotted d6s into a portrait.
The final result? It looks great. The frame can hold the weight of the dice, and it fills the spot above the piano perfectly. The white in the dice is as important as the black to create the image as was a helpful neighbour who helped mount and remount the frame as the work progressed.
