Introducing the Gyro System, a RPG mechanic designed to give your heroes more power the more dangerous it gets, Sentinel Comics: The Roleplaying Game tries to make sure your character always had something to do. It’s a pitch that seems to be working as, at the time of writing, there are 5 days left on the clock and of the US$50,000 Greater Than Games asked for they have raised $243,709 or so. This could easily be a tabletop RPG that makes a quarter of a million. You can follow the progress here on Kickstarter.
The GYRO system stands for Green, Yellow, Red and Out. Your superhero character starts in the green zone and as you take damage you move down to Out. Even when you’re ‘Out’ you can still take Incapacitated ability actions.
One weird thing about this Kickstarter is that a very large Sentinel Comics: The Roleplaying Game starter kit has been on sale, for about $20, since 2017. That kit has everything you need to play the game. We’re told, though, that the core rules will have more.
The core rules will be a hardback, 8.5 x 11 inch, full-colour book with more than 400 pages. We’re told it has a massive archive fill of heroes, villains, minion and environments that we might already have seen from the Sentinel Comics. If you’re a fan then this seems like a good way to get canon stats for the characters you’ve been reading about.
It takes a pledge of $19 to get the roleplaying game as a PDF and $59 to get it in both paper and PDF.
The Greater Than Games team have brought in help for this project and for the last few years have been working with Cam Banks, Dave Chalker and Philippe-Antoine Menard from Critical-Hit Studios. It looks like efforts have paid off as this Kickstarter looks certain to land.
