The 27th of February is National Pokemon Day, a date that commemorates when the original Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue were released in Japan.
The Pokemon Company is making sure Pokemon hunters are reminded. In Pokemon Go from February 26, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. PST to February 28, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. PST the Pokemon that featured early in Red and Blue (the Kanto region) will appear more frequently in the wild.
We’re told there’s a chance you could encounter a Shiny Pidgey or Shiny Rattata. Other Pokemon from the Kanto region will be challenges in Raid Battles.
Pokemon Go players could also discover Pikachu and Eevee’s wearing special flower crowns in the wild or as Field Research rewards.
Funko will release their latest Pokemon Pop on the 27th too. Who? None other than the charming and deadly Bulbsaur.
The Pokemon Company isn’t the only group marking the day. In the UK 365Games already has their Pokemon Day 2019 sales page live. It’s expected that the discounts will appear at midnight tonight.
On Etsy, the retailer EBURgami are having a sale on their instant download papercraft Pokemon. These downloads mean if you need to quickly hide Pokemon around the office without resorting to the augmented reality Niantic serves up in Pokemon Go and you’ve access to colour paper then you’re good to celebrate the pocket monster’s 22nd birthday.
