Wardlings are a tabletop mini range from WizKids where the heroes are young and stylized adventurers. You can find them in WizKid’s Collectible miniatures range. They’re pre-painted and already have been two sets, both of which you can buy on Amazon.
WizKids has announced a partnership with Renegade Game Studios to create a 5e Wardlings RPG. The RPG will be designed by Elisa Teague.
5e rules mean that D&D mechanics will be used to power Wardlings RPG. The game, with the heroes as kids, will be accessible to the growing legions of Dungeons & Dragons players and playing families.
Scott Gaeta, President of Renegade Game Studios, told press;
The Wardlings figures are so unique and detailed that we really wanted to help players tell their stories,” “We’re so happy to be partnering with WizKids to bring them to life.”
Renegade already has experience with a smash hit kids-centric RPG as they co-publish Kids on Bikes RPG with Hunters Entertainment.
At the helm of Renegade, is Scott Gaeta who entered the gaming industry in 1996 by opening a retail store. He consulted for Decipher before closing the store and becoming the company’s Senior Vice President. He later moved to Upper Deck Entertainment and worked on products like Yu-Gi-Oh!, World of Warcraft, Hello Kitty and comic book tie-ins with both Marvel and DC. After that, he moved on to co-found Cryptozoic Entertainment, tapping his contacts to bring home the World of Warcraft CCG and various big-name licenses. He quit Cryptozoic in 2014 to found Renegade Game Studios.
