Sean Astin the actor you probably know from Lord of the Rings and Stranger Days is a tabletop RPG creative and his project is the Starfinder powered horror sci-fi called Grimmerspace. He’s working on it with the ENnie award-winning Richard Pett.
The Kickstarter for Grimmerspace is due next month. However, if you’ve got Starfinder, then you don’t need to wait. You can sample the new terror thanks to Rone Barton and Lou Agresta of Iron GM Games. They, with Richard Pett, have already published the free to download Abattoir 8. It won’t be free forever, however.
Grimmerspace is going heavy with pre-written adventures. Have of the main Grimmerspace rules will be pre-written adventures. It’s perhaps not a surprise to see the team giving away pre-written adventures to get people interested.
Abattoir 8 introduces the lore of Grimmerspace, the races and factions and provides four pregenerated characters. It’s our first encounter with creatures, technologies and weapons from the setting.
This freebie is also our first chance to see the Gliding Rim Galaxy where Grimmerspace is set.
Importantly, Abattoir 8 will not remain free forever. Once the Kickstarter ends in June, this freebie goes away and will be replaced by a backers-only expanded version.
