Free League Publishing the company behind Mutant Year Zero, Tales from the Loop, Things from the Flood and Forbidden Lands has a new license and it’s a big, scary, nasty one. They’re doing an Alien RPG.
There are more information and a mailing list up at Free League’s new website Alien-RPG.com.
The game is set in 2183. That’s about three years after the horrible end of the colony Hadley’s Hope on LV-426, the strange disappearance of USS Sulaco and the devastating events in the prison o Fiorina 161.
It’s a tough time to be alive. Powerful corporates suspect each other as well as the United Americas. There’s a conflict between the rival sectors in space and rumours that the Weyland-Yitani was testing a bioweapon at Hadley’s Hope will not die.
Free League’s Alien RPG will have two different styles of play; Cinematic and Campaign.
With Cinematic play, the tabletop roleplaying group will make use of pre-made scenarios that copy the storyline and plot arcs of Alien. They’re designed to be finished in a single session and will be brutal. Free League says you’re not all expected to survive, but hopefully, they won’t object to people creating their own adventures.
The second style, Campaign play, is designed for the longer term and consecutive games – your weekly events. It’s this style that will allow the same cast of PCs to adventure over many sessions, exploring the deadly while of Alien, for as long as they manage.
Alien will use a modified version of the Year Zero Engine. The game is due this year.
