Here’s an interesting discovery – the Brooding Muse. At a first glance the site, run by Jen and Patrick, appears to be a small retailer selling cool looking skateboards, grip tape and related fashion.
At a second glance there’s a section called Prologue and it’s a webcomic. In fact, the ecommerce aspects of the Brooding Muse are pretty diverse with different platforms being used to offer a wide range of Brooding Muse goodies. The merch is all in support of the webcomic.
So my first impression of the Brooding Muse was wrong; it’s primarily a webcomic, hidden away and only still publishing the prologue.
And the Brooding Muse’s prologue looks pretty interesting. At first, I thought we were dealing with a Ravenloft-esq world but then flying fang-filled-jaw felt a little bit more high magic than that. To say any more at this point would be spoilery.
The comic is written by Jen and Patrick themselves and illustrated by Nik Poliwko and Earl Geier. The style will certainly invoke 60s and 70s horror, even if you don’t tend to think along the lines of Ravenloft vs Hammer.
