A tool like Watabou’s fantasy city generator will map you a town or city in a single click.
What about deciding on the buildings in it? Their purposes? What about NPCs in the town? Their names, their relationships and backgrounds? Wouldn’t it be great if the same generator also wrote descriptions for all these things? A busy DM would only then need to read alloud to their players.
That’s exactly what Eigengrau’s Generator does. Written by /u/rcgy, this generator starts with an essential establishment like a tavern and then, with a click, creates streets complete with other buildings and NPCs all around it.
It’s an impressive town and tavern generator and very detailed. If Eigengrau’s Generator creates an potion shop for you, for example, you’ll also be able to randomly generate potions for sale, or a plot hook. It’ll create an owner NPC with a history, friends, enemies and family. Click on a family member and the generator will spin connections for them.
In a few clicks you will have created an entire town, NPCs, buildings and potental scenes and you’ll be able to save it all online.
The generator is still a works in progress and currently on version 2.2.1. There may be the occassional bug but the suggestion and bug spotting report form is always visible on the left.
There’s a Patreon to support the development of the site. That’s only making $31 per month for /u/rcgy, a full time student, and this suggests not enough tabletop players have found the helpful site.
Ready to go? You can start generating random taverns right away.
