Wizards of the Coast have just published their official product overview page for the dice and goodies that come with the latest D&D storyline Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus and with it comes the Amazon pre-order link.
The Descent into Arvernus dice collection got plenty of time on the DNDLive2019 stream this weekend. It was clear that Wizards of the Coast had listened carefully to feedback from DMs and players on earlier official dice products.
The Baldur’s Gate set has eleven dice in total. There are two d20s, for example. Why? D&D 5e rules include advantage and disadvantage where people roll 2d20 and so putting two dice in the box makes sense! There are 4d6 in the box. Why? That’s how many gaming groups roll up random stats for characters.
The box itself acts as a dice tray, so Wizards have lined it with felt and thought carefully about the size of it.
There’s more than just dice in the official accessories box, though, there are exclusive cards for Strange Encounters and Trinkets One Finds in Avernus, and I suspect the foldout map for Avernus that players can use will be popular.
Avernus is a sandbox setting, players will need to work out where they want to go next and how they might get there. A map will be a great prop and decision aid for that.
Lastly, a feature I’m especially fond of is a sizing chart for the demons and evils of the Blood War. If you’re going to be slaughtered by an angry demon, it’s better to have a good understanding of just how hopeless out-powered your character was.
The release date for the Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus dice box set is the 17th September.
You can pre-order the dice box set today.
