Hearts of Wulin is a Wuxia RPG from The Gauntlet Gaming Community, powered by the Apocalypse, and funding at something like 500% on Kickstarter. You can see the success on the campaign page.
A pledge of $15 (about £12) will get you the PDF copy of the rules, $20 gets you the softcover and PDF, and $30 is enough for the hardback and PDF.
The Gauntlet Gaming Community wuxia RPG is inspired by movies like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Chinese TV shows.
As the RPG is doing so well on Kickstarter, they’ve unlocked a full-colour art interior, the San Fransisco 1905 setting, Combat Choreography by Eli Kurtz and Eric Framer, and a host of other improvements.
Characters are skilled martial artists from a world of rival clans, obligations and conspiracy. There are six playbooks characters tend to be drawn from; the Aware, Bravo, Loyal, Outsider, Student and the Unorthodox, and these feed into the web of Entanglements and Inner Conflict that holds the group together and creates tension.
At the time of writing, there are 17 days left to run on this Kickstarter, and it looks like it’ll race even higher with more stretch goals tumbling down. Fans of Monsterhearts 2 by Avery Alder, The Veil by Fraser Simons and Masks by Brendan Conway will take heart too as Hearts of Wulin wears its inspiration on its sleeve and those three Powered by the Apocalypse games are all mentioned.
