There’s the magic of love in the air at the UK Game Expo in Birmingham today. Yes, geeky couples are attending the large convention but so is the Danish board game Fog of Love.
In Fog of Love, much like in life, you rather discover the rules as you play. The goal is, often, to be happy in a relationship.
I asked at the press preview, “How do you win?” and this turns out to be an interesting question. You can win Fog of Life together if your secret motivations and desires work out, or you can succeed despite the other person in a relationship with you, or you can break up. Sometimes, maybe, that’s also a win too.
What I thought was an all-around win was the two variant covers on display at the Expo. There’s one version of the game with two guys on the cover and another with two gals.
Fog of Love has always been LGBT+ inclusive. It’s always been possible for the female characters to be in blue and the male to be in pink, or for there to be two female characters or two male, but the original cover was rather heteronormal.
