Google has been talking about their move into gaming and Stadia today. Stadia is a cloud’s solution to gaming where the power of your machine (whether that’s a PC, a phone, a connected TV) doesn’t matter as you connect to Google’s technology to play.
You can read a quick write up of the Stadia announcement here on Geek Native.
Today’s news talked about games and prices.
The Founder’s Edition costs $129.99 and has nearly $300 worth of goodies with it. These include a Chromecast Ultra, a limited edition Night Blue Stadia Controller, three months of Stadia Pro, a three month Buddy Pass and, of course, first pick at your Stadia Name.
The usual price for Stadia Pro will be $9.99 a month.
You do get free games with Stadia Pro, and the first title has been announced. It’s Destiny 2 – which somewhat confirms the rumours Destiny 2 was moving to a play for free model.
Stadia Pro also gives you 4K HDR resolution if you can support it.
Of particular interest is the news that Dungeons & Dragon’s 5e will be on the Stadia in the form of Baldur’s Gate 3. The game looks impressive and far more Cthulhuesq than most of us would have been expecting.
Stadia is releasing first to 14 countries in November; Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
