Rocket Age is an RPG from Why Not Games set in an alternative sci-fi 1938. The game already exists in the form of Rocket Age Classic, and it will continue to exist as such even after this Kickstarter. The latest supplement for it, Non-Stop to Jupiter was added to DriveThruRPG at the end of May.
This Kickstarter is to make a 5e version of the game and therefore make it available to gamers who only know Dungeons & Dragons and might be a bit cautious about trying anything else. It’s about to fund and still has, at the time of writing, three weeks to go. You can follow the campaign on Kickstarter.
A pledge of US$10 is enough to get a PDF copy of Rocket Age (5e) in PDF and all the PDF stretch goals. As this blog post goes live, Rocket Age (5e) is about to fund, and there are still 23 days on the clock. Stretch goals seem likely.
It’s a big step up to get the paper book, as there are no softcover options, and you have to find $50. That’ll get you the PDf, the PDF stretch goals and the hardcover.
Rocket Age is a pulp game. You might be fighting Nazis or Stalinists in one adventure and then trying to make peace with one set of aliens while wiping out another in the next adventure. It’s a space that isn’t real, a cosmos that only existed in the mind of early sci-fi writers who imagined jungles on Venus and cumbersome robot lackeys holding ray guns.
This is an award-winning game. It won an ENnie in 2014 and since then moved from its original publisher and back to the control of Rocket Age creator Ken Spencer.
