Inspired by shows like the recent Netflix version of The Haunting of Hill House and The Babadook, the Quietus from Sinister Beard Games promises melancholy horror. That seems to be what gamers are after as the project successfully Kickstarted in days. You can follow the progress on the campaign page.
A re-playable one-shot horror, with easy to learn rules that can be run with a GM and one or two players. Quietus promises to be easy to pick up but perhaps emotional to do so.
A pledge of £8 is enough for the PDF version of the game, £15 for the black and white softcover with colour PDF and if you step up to £27, then you’ll get the colour hardback with your PDF copy.
Quietus uses the same mechanics as Blades in the Dark. That award-winning system, Forged in the Dark, has been streamlined by Oli Jeffery, so it works better for one-shot play but keeps up that tension rising tempo it is known for.
The stretch goals unlock to provide other quickstart scenarios, from a range of different RPG writers, to make it even easier to pick up the game without much prep.
At the time of writing, Quietus is speeding towards 300% funding and has two weeks left to raise funds.
