Asmodee continues their digital push, making the most of their highest profile games and have brought Settlers of Catan (aka CATAN) to Nintendo’s popular Switch.
You know the drill, you’re on the island and vying for control. This means building on the most strategic locations and trading carefully with rivals.
The digital version has a campaign mode with scenarios and three different levels of difficulty.
Catan’s Switch expansion plans
The Seafarers expansion is already in the basic game. This means players will be able to explore the islands, build ships and worry about pirates.
The more advanced Cites & Knights expansion is also already available but does not come free with the game. This add-on introduces barbarians that will need to be held back by alliances and knights.
The core Catan game will cost $19.99 and the Cities & Knights expansion another $5.99.
Pierre Ortolan, CEO of Asmodee Digital, told press a little of the division’s plans.
We are delighted to bring the masterpiece of strategic board games to Nintendo Switch. It will certainly appeal to those who play the board game while also engaging new audiences, combining the best of the deep decision-making and entertainment of the original board game with the unique features of the Nintendo Switch,”
By combining our unique digital expertise and board game roots we aim to provide an immersive experience that honors the legacy of CATAN and transports the beloved classic into the digital era”.
