The news broke over the weekend that the award-winning Studio Agate would be launching a D&D powered sword and sorcery RPG called Fateforge. Monday was the expected Kickstarter launch, and that’s what has happened.
The RPG has taken in nearly £4,000 in the opening hours. The goal is £11,764 or US$15,000 in the next 23 days. There are stretch goals. You can follow the progress here.
There’s already a free to download, 66-page, full-colour Player’s Guide which you can access via this look at Fateforge. In summary; Fateforge is a sword and sorcery RPG, powered by D&D, in which player characters may be Awakened or able to ascend.
A pledge of US$25 will get you the Core Book: Adventurers, Spellbook: Grimoire and character sheets in PDF plus all the digital stretch goals.
A step up to $75 is what it takes to get those PDFs plus a hardcover copy of the standard Adventurers and Grimoire books. That’s a $15 discount on retail.
Want something a bit more exclusive? $110 for the PDFs and the Red Dragon edition of the Adventurers and Grimoire books along with 10 character sheets, a map of the World of Eana and the stretch goals. That’s a $20 discount. There’s a $150 tier as well that includes exclusive minis.
Ed Greenwood, the creator of D&D’s Forgotten Realms, is on board too and has written a Fateforge adventure.
If you’re going to Gen Con, then you’ll be able to pick up your copy of the RPG then and there. The rest of us will have to wait for either September 2019 for the first wave of deliveries or the second at the end of the year. Either way; this is an impressively short timeline.
Lastly, there’s a Discord server to pop into and ask questions.
