Wicked Ones is an RPG that uses Blades in the Dark’s Forged in the Dark system.
You are fantasy monsters raiding human lands. If you survive, you’ll gain loot and become infamous. That infamy will attract more treasure carrying adventures who’ll try and kill you. If they fail, then your wealth and infamy rise even more. The campaign has, at the time of writing, 11 days left to run and has funded. You can watch progress and join on Kickstarter.
The pledge tiers are straight-forward. It’s ¥2,150 (or about £16) to get a PDF of the Wicked Ones and a coupon to purchase the hardcover at the cost of printing.
It’s ¥4,300 (or about £16) to get the PDF copy, the hardback printing code, access to the post-Kickstarter playlist, a PDF copy of the toolkit deck and high-resolution copies of the sandbox map. Higher still gets you all that plus a Steam code for the Overworld PC game.
The game is described as Dungeon Keeper meets Blade in the Dark. Most of the time is spent on raids and building your dungeon. Every now and then some pesky heroes will try and invade.
As a wicked one you a monster with the rare ability to see the bigger picture and work together. You are a monster, though, and you’re flawed with something terrible lurking in your heart. You’ll get to pick what this, which is fortunate, as this evil flaw will drag you away from your goals but reward you with extra dice and XP.
Wicked One sandboxes
The Wicked Ones comes with guidelines for creating sandboxes; these are worlds and factions that surround your dungeon. You get five premade sandboxes in the game.
