The Sons of the Singularity have come back to Kickstarter for their second project. What happened to the first? The Chinese government burned it.
This time around the indie publisher seems to be sticking clear of Cthulhu and communists and have turned their attention to imagining what if a sword and sorcery setting evolved a little to a more ‘sophisticated’ era. You can follow the progress on the Kickstarter page.
This is a supplement for D&D’s 5th edition. There’s a goal of $4,000 set, and the Sons have raised $2,500 with, at the time of writing, 22 days to go. It’s looking healthy.
A pledge of $18 gets you the PDF, and $38 gets you the full-colour print copy via DriveThruRPG.
This is a game with investigation, intrigue and espionage. You’re an operative, someone who is either working to maintain the status quo or rebel against it. The core rules are about 200-250 pages, with a setting for Rational Magic as a game world, NOCs, optional investigation rules for 5e, at least three scenarios, faction lists, pre-genned characters and the Lore System rules.
The Lore System
This is the second edition of the Lore System, purpose-built for Rational Magic and now tested and evolved. Sons tell us this will give you a fast yet meaningful playing experience and is based on games like FATE and GUMSHOE.
Stretch goals include more illustrations (School of Theoretical High Energy Conversions), extra scenarios and a traditional hardback print run.
