The podcast The Titans of All’Terra – A 5e D&D Actual Play for Gamers of All Ages by Joshua Lorimer and friends has spun into a Kickstarter. In it, you’ll find rules for giant golems you can pilot and do battle against titans.
As this article goes live, there are 15 days left to back the Kickstarter, and it is just over halfway there with money. All’Terra wants $18,000, and there’s more than $9,000 in the bank. You can follow progress on Kickstarter.
Orc Dad, the company Lorimer has created for podcasting and this project isn’t trying to print a book for this 5e campaign setting. It’s all PDF.
How come? Lorimer says he wants to focus on the contents of the book. The $18,000 isn’t going to reduce printing costs; it’s going on art. This is actually an exciting challenge. Some other Kickstarters do the opposite, get a book printed, even if it means cutting out the art.
It takes a pledge of $30 to get the PDF setting. There are more expensive PDFs available, even more than twice that, but this is relatively high for a Kickstarter tier. I suspect a challenge All’Terra faces is that some gamers only go above $20 for print.
The Adventures of All’Terra is available for just $25, has four backers at the time of writing, but I don’t know how they’ll play it without the main campaign.
If you want both; it’s $50.
The limited slot, a one-shot with Josh, going for $100 has sold out. There are higher tiers available.
I’m pleased that Josh puts Jenny Stead and Mike Hegberg in the limelight. We’ve not really had a chance to see what Hegberg will bring to the project, but the samples of Stead’s art so far have been brilliant. This RPG doesn’t look like D&D. It’s more like an adventure toon and, after all, All’Terra was always suitable for families.
