Over on the DM’s Guild, Garin Jones has just uploaded a new set of optional rules for DMs to use.
Rules for Farts.
These rules are free.
There’s only one page of fart rules but a fair few farts to consider. Your options range from the Crack Rattler, Rootie Tootie Pip Pop Brrrrrrap, Silent Buy Deadly, Squeaker, Ululating Howl, Garbage Guts and the Mudslide.
The Mudslide, by the way, is an automatic fail on the Fart Safety DC.
These rules come from the D&D Character Lab podcast. I think this is it on Soundcloud. The link in the PDF itself, and on the Patreon page it links to, points to https://soundcloud.com/dan-beal-274574759 and there’s nothing at that address. Perhaps they moved.
As a marketing effort, Farts has merit. No one really needs rules for farting in D&D 5e, but by writing and publishing them, the D&D Character Lab podcast will get noticed by more people.
I listened to one episode and rather enjoyed it.
The catch, though, is that this episode of the podcasts ends with a plea for Dungeon Masters to take third-party and community content seriously. That doesn’t fit all that well with a comedy supplement on farts.
You can download Farts for free.

What do you think? Are comedy rules supplements like Farts funny and valid attention to D&D? After all, who are they hurting? Or do they harm the content community by discouraging people from taking it seriously?
