Italian publisher Isola Illyon Edizioni is looking to bring Kisarata, a 5e powered RPG of Souls and Unearthly Horrors to life on Kickstarter. They’re asking for €25,000, and at the time of writing, they have €12,300 or so pledged with a week to go. It’s going to be tough but’s achievable.
You can follow the push to finish line at their campaign page.
The whole Kickstarter page is in English first and then Italian. This is enough to prompt Chrome to offer to translate the page. I fear that this cosmetic but unexpected offer may be putting off skittish potential backers.
A pledge of €20 (£19) is enough for setting in PDF, your name in the book and all stretch goals. Make that €45 (£42), and you’ll get the hardback as well.
I don’t think D&D suits many forms of horror. It’s high fantasy. It’s a game where heroes laugh at horror, but Kisarta brings some significant changes and more than just making the enemies demons and their ilk.
It may well be the case that this setting has cracked it and is doing horror without needing to always be horrific.
In Kisarata, characters are the Souls of dead people. They wake up in the city of Limbo and are immediately thrown into the Great Game.
The book will be at least 220 pages and will include the setting, races, classes and new rules. There will be a host of dangerous creatures and monsters from Kisarata and an introductory adventure to kick you off.
