Monte Cook Games’ Numenera is a game that’s well looked after. I’ve backed it in bits and pieces, sometimes going big, occasionally light but aside from a brief encounter with the computer game, I’ve never played it. I probably should have given the reaction from fans on the news that three more books are possible.
The Kickstarter asked for $60,000. Sound like a lot? It’s less than 24 hours after launch, and there’s already more than $175,000 pledged. You can follow progress on the campaign page.
The Kickstarter offers three thematically linked hardbacks.
Numenera is set a billion years into the future and is about rediscovering the world. One of the aspects of the world to rediscover is the datasphere. This isn’t a real place; this is a virtual space with its own rules.
The new books are; Voices of the Dataspehre, Liminal Shore and Edge of the Sun.
A pledge of $25 is suitable for people new to Numenera. You’ll get the Starter Set. Not new? $50 gets you the PDF of all three books.
Ignore the attractive retailer discounts. It’s $135 to get all three books in print (and PDF).
