After a successful Kickstarter that raised $17, 842, Sanguine Productions will start to sell the second edition of the Usagi Yojimbo roleplaying game. The new book is expected to be in stores for December.
The RPG is set in Stan Sakai’s Eisner winning anthropomorphic fantasy Edo period Japan. The comic series follows Miyamoto Usagi, a swordsrabbit with the heart of a hero.
Powered by the Apocalypse, the early access PDF version of the game is already available as PDF only from DriveThruRPG. The current price is $19.99, a markdown from $39.95.
The first edition was published in 2005 and written by Pieter van Hiel and Jason Holmgren. Holmgreen was the head designer on the anthropomorphic Jadeclaw RPG, and it was that system used in the original Usagi Yojimbo.
Holmgren and van Hiel are co-authors in the 2nd edition, with Stan Sakai himself also getting an author credit on DriveThruRPG’s system.
The RPG is 117 pages long, has a full system, character generation and is recommended for ages 12 and up.
