Seekers Beyond The Shroud as funded on Kickstarter and at the time of writing has 25 days still left on the campaign. The RPG is from Exalted Funeral, a company who make tabletop RPGs and printed heavy metal and occult material. It’s no surprise to discover that Seekers Beyond the Should is an occult RPG.
What’s more surprising is that this RPG is for a single player. To find out more or back the campaign visit the Kickstarter page.
How does the solo RPG elements work? It’s a free-form, skilled-based character generation to begin with. Then you move into locations such as astral planes, ruins, secret sanctums and abandoned complexes for randomly generated enemies, discoveries and events.
Seekers Beyond the Shroud has a randomly generated mission system, and it’s that which has you exploring locations. This combines with an MMO-style central hub where you can learn skills, spells and research rumours. The campaign page doesn’t actually say how that works – whether that’s a website or merely an in-game social area where all encounters are tame.
Exalted Funeral does acknowledge they have another Kickstarter on the go and that’s unfulfilled for the time being. It’s not uncommon for publishers to have two projects on the go, but it’s becoming less common.
In this case, the game is being created by Blackoath Entertainment, and Exalted Funeral are merely managing the Kickstarter, shipping and delivery. They say this campaign is 95% done.
A pledge of $12 will get you the PDF. It’s $25 to get the softcover and PDF combo.
