In the end, I enjoyed Lost in Space, the Netflix remix, but I think they made me work for it. It’s a strange tone, certainly not light, but not quite grim enough to be dark.
It looks like they’re following the very same recipe for season 2.
Lost in Space season 2 has been given a release date of December 24th, and Netflix will release all the episodes at once. Having a boring Christmas Eve? You’ll be able to binge-watch this.
This version of Lost in Space, inspired on the 60s original, has the Robinson family as refugees from a dying Earth. Their escape ark, the Resolute, is attacked by forces unknown and they and a few other survivors crash on an alien planet.
Molly Parker stars as Maureen Robinson, the matriarch of the family, and Toby Stephens as former Navy Seal, John Robinson. The younger family are Maxwell Jenkins, the 11-year old Will Robinson, Taylor Russell, the 18-year old Judy Robinson and Mina Sundwall, the 15-year old Penny Robinson. Shout out to Parker Posey as the spooky Dr Smith.
As you’d expect, the actors are older than their young characters. Maxwell Jenkins is actually 14, and Mina Sundwall is 17. So, not that much older! I think both look, in a good way, very much more mature in the trailer. I think that speaks to the emotions and intensity they’re trying to get across in the scene.
