Asmodee is a publisher and a distributor of many of the world’s biggest board games. They own Fantasy Flight, have the rights to Catan, and were bought last year by PAI Partners for €1.2 billion.
Aconyte, Asmodee’s fiction imprint, has announced a multi-year deal with Marvel for “new prose stories”.
They mean books.
In fact, these new superhero stories will be available in trade paperback, ebook and audiobook editions.
Marvel and Asmodee have worked together before. In particular, Fantasy Flight Games has the Marvels Championships living card game. Atomic Mass, also an Asmodee company, announced Marvel Crisis Protocol at Gen Con this year.
There are already Marvel properties being published. Captain America: Dark Designs is due out October 15th, written by Stefan Petrucha and published by Titan Books. Aconyte makes no suggestion their deal with Marvel is an exclusive deal, and so there’s no reason to expect much of a reshuffle.
