Geek Native’s own stats show that geeks are far less likely to trade their life today for alien adventures. But why?
This blog collects weird stats when giveaways are running. In exchange for your answer, you get a shot at the prize.
At the time of writing, there are two; a year’s subscription to The APERTURE Guide (good for gamers) and the novel of Captain America: Dark Designs (good for Marvel fans).
Back in May, in cooperation with Crunchyroll, there was a bunch of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures schwag to give away. I took this chance to refine the question a little and try and discover whether it’s peace and quiet geeks prefer over adventure.
Here’s the overall score. 47% of competition respondents favoured bizarre adventures, compared to 53% who wanted peace and quiet. Of course, the word ‘bizarre’ is pretty suggestive, but this survey got closer to a 50/50 split than the alien adventures one did.
As is the custom, respondents also had to say whether they identified as a geek or not. Those who didn’t were probably just on the site drawn in by the competition.
Geeks want peace and quiet
45% of geek respondents wanted bizarre adventures compared to 55% of those who just wanted peace and quiet.
That’s very many more geeks prepared to trade peace and quiet for adventures than those who were prepared to never see their current family and friends (or pets) again.
Non-geeks want adventure
The results are a little closer in the non-geek camp. 52% of non-geeks in the competition prefered bizarre adventures, and 48% favoured peace and quiet.
It’s worth noting that the survey had about 100 responses and wasn’t scientific at all.
Which would you pick?
