Mongoose Publishing is Kickstarting what they’re calling the most expansive Traveller campaign ever produced. It’s going well, at the time of writing there are still 20 days to join in, and more than 720 backers have pushed the funds to over £60,000. The campaign goal was £20,000. You can follow progress or pledge at the campaign page.
There’s no pitch video on the campaign and Mongoose won’t be pleased to discover that I couldn’t get the embedded Kickstarter video to play at all. Thankfully, and wisely, the British publisher produced this video trailer for YouTube.
The box set has four books inside; 32-paged Deepnight Legacy adventure that acts an introduction, the 64-paged Terminus Point adventure for the finale, the 104-paged Campaign Guide for the middle and the 96-paged Referee’s Handbook.
The Kickstarter describes the effort of running the campaign as “herculean”. Reverse psychology must be working as Deepnight is now three times over target.
There’s also a deck of cards for Mission Briefings, Standing Orders and Mission Roles.
If you want a preview then the still-a-works-in-progress (but playable) Deepnight Legacy can be downloaded straight away from Mongoose’s website (PDF link).
The game is being designed by Martin Dougherty, and he has been uploading development diaries to YouTube. Here’s the first.
