Michael Raston blogs at The Lizard Man Diaries and has put together this Automated Sci Fi Dangerous Sector Generator.
The Generator has two components that work differently. The first is the visual map generator which requires you to roll d8 and d12, cross-reference the results and add the resulting element to your map.
The second is a set of buttons which randomly look up description tables. This means, with a click, you can generate the basic technology of the sector and traps for it. For example, I’ve a technology that’s causing destruction and appears to be upside down compared to usual designs. The first trap the PCs will encounter with a climate-based one that’ll mutate its victims. Inside the sector, they’ll find strange fruits that that are slowly destroying it.
The technology that Raston uses is JavaScript, and I’m impressed they got that to work/were allowed to make it work, within Blogspot’s posting rules.
