It’s Friday the 13th. Those bad luck omens might stretch back as far as the Last Supper, which was attended by 13 people. Except, that was on Maundy Thursday, the day before the crucifixion on Good Friday.
Alternatively, the Knights Templar might be the reason Friday the 13th is considered unlucky. It was on a Friday the 13th in 1307 that King Philip IV of France arrested hundreds of the Knights. It didn’t end well for them.
As it happens, paraskevidekatriaphobia isn’t universal. A good friend of mine, who lives in Spain, assures me that real date to watch out for is an evil Tuesday the 13th!
In other, not quite tabletop gaming news but still good enough to mention in the intro; Wizards of the Coast have announced D&D: Dark Alliance. After 31 years, Drizzt will headline a computer game.
