I think this is an advert for Amazon’s Prime Video in the UK. I’m not sure. The marketing agency behind it Ralph gets mentioned more often in the press release. Sorry, experience agency, I meant to say.
It’s a great idea, though. Interview some random people on the streets of London and get them to come up with the outline for a Christmas horror movie.
As one YouTube commenter said;
They need to do more of these, this is probably the only adverts that have made me laugh
It is a reminder that while the UK doesn’t have Disney+, we still have Prime Video.
Ralph does this sort of work for many other brands; helping with Stranger Things, Black Mirror and some of the marketing for Mr. Robot.
Needless to say, we know Ralph and Amazon didn’t just stick together the first few soundbites they recorded. Lots of editing and careful selection of suggestions were needed to make this Christmas horror the success it is. That’s part of the skill. If it looks easy; the job’s been done well.
That said, these vox pops targets didn’t seem to struggle with the concept of a Christmas horror at all. Perhaps, deep down, we all know Santa is a supernatural terror.
Does it work for you as an ad?
