Mark Wheatley and Marc Hempel’s impressive Breathtaker will get a remastered classic re-release this year. That’s not all, there will be an exhibit to go with it.
In Breathtaker, Chase Darrow is running from the government.
There are two reasons for this. Firstly, Chase and her mum believe that the government should not be telling them out to live their lives. They want to be left alone.
The second reason is more complicated. Chase is a killer. Whether she wants it or not, she is a succubus with the ability to drain a man’s lifeforce.
For years the government has failed to catch her. Now the NSA has put their best agent on the case, and the chase is on. The agent, known only as The Man, is an embodiment of toxic masculinity and operates with ramped up strength and agility.
The Man doesn’t see Chase as a woman who just wants to be left alone. In this horror comic, The Man is after Breathtaker, the code name to his dangerous target.
Breathtaker was originally a mini-series that came in four parts. This re-release will enjoy an introduction from Neil Gaiman.
Breathtaker proves itself something utterly odd and new. Powerful art, vibrant coloring, a new, quirky story told in a different way,
The Breathtaker Exhibition will be on view from August 24th at McDaniel College in Westminister, Maryland.
