The original Stargirl was a superhero before getting her hands on the cosmic staff and was known as the second Star-Spangled Kid. Her reason for getting into the business? To annoy her stepfather Pat Dugan.
The Stargirl upgrade comes later, and in the comics, she gets the chance to fight Solomon Grundy, the super-villain who killed the first Star-Spangled Kid.
It doesn’t seem that the TV show will follow that arc terribly closely but the costume looks very similar, and there’s clearly S.T.R.I.P.E. to look forward too.
In the show, Brec Bassinger stars as Courtney Whitmore / Stargirl. She’s already been seen many times before on the small screen in Bella and the Bulldogs, 47 Meters Down, School of Rock and The Goldbergs.
There’s no word of a UK TV station or platform picking Stargirl up.
