Red Thread of Fate is (will be) an RPG set in 10th Century classical Japan (that’s the Heian Period). In the game, player characters are mythological shapeshifting creatures known as Henge.
The Henge interfere with mortal life to unite two lovers. They reattach the tragically severed red thread of fate.
Chaosium has picked an appropriate new date for the Kickstarter. It’ll now launch of Valentine’s Day (Feb 14).
Henge and the Red Thread of Fate are rooted in Japanese folklore. Gods tie the red thread around the pinky fingers of people destined to be with one another, and no matter how tangled things get, those two will always find each other.
The game starts with two people feeling forlorn. They don’t know the true horror of the situation; their red threads have been cut. Instinct, though, has them appeal to the god of the mood, Tsukuyomi, to help and so the Henge are dispatched.
So, yeah, this isn’t an RPG about exploring dungeons, killing monsters and taking the loot. It’s an RPG about helping two people fall in love, and the campaign starts February 14th.
