Do you remember the old game “Don’t Wake Daddy?” The TV advert the game the might jog your memory, but I’ve only been able to find a poor quality capture of it.
In the game, you’re playing as children trying to sneak into the kitchen. Sold by Parker Brothers, it was one of the 1992 Christmas best sellers. If you’ll excuse the pun, the game was a bit of a sleeper hit, and it credited with influencing the German artist Martin Kippenberger. There are several Kippenberger “Don’t Wake Daddy” artworks including one sold by Christies Auction House for USD 162, 500 in 2016.
In this case, the artwork is by Kody Koala a modder Geek Native has tracked for years.
Kody Koala was able to pay less than USD 162, 500 for a copy of the original game and then applied their skills to create “Don’t Wake Mario”.
There are more photographs of the transformation over on Kody’s Instagram page and the accompanying Etsy store is usually full of interesting conversions and models.
