Dicebreaker’s Matt Jarvis has an eagle-eyed story that reveals a new Dungeons & Dragons co-op board game is due out this year.
Hasbro hasn’t confirmed the game, but a mock-up of the board game was seen at Asmodee’s UK stand at this year Toy Fair show in London.
Asmodee UK is one of the countries biggest distributor of games, and if anyone was to have agreed on a deal with Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast, it would be them.
The sighting at the Toy Fair is only one piece of confirmation. Asmodee’s 2020 catalogue also includes a mention of Dungeons & Dragons: Adventure Begins. Only the 2019 catalogue is currently online, but the 2020 issue is available at the London Toy Fair.
That actually makes two different D&D titles. The mock-up box says “Dungeons & Dragons: Adventurer’s Gate” but the catalogue says “Dungeons & Dragons: Adventure Begins”. It is likely the same game, with the name changing due to last-minute changes.
Dicebreaker notes that the descriptions for both games are similar. They use D&D 5e classes and seem to be an entry-level board game designed to lead people towards the tabletop RPG.
It’s understood at the artwork on display at the Toy Fair isn’t final, but beyond that, Hasbro has refused to add any more information.
