One Piece is famous for being the best selling manga of all time, selling over 460 million copies, challenged only recently by Demon Slayer. It’s a series of adventures of some madcap pirates led by the young Luffy who can stretch and flex his body like an elastic superhero.
Now Netflix is getting in on the action and has commissioned a 10 episode live-action series.
The show will be a co-production between Netflix and Tomorrow Studios. Tomorrow Studios itself is a partnership between Marty Adelstein (Prison Break, Teen Wolf) and ITV Studios (the 70-year-old British company).
Tomorrow Studios are already busy working on a live-action version of Cowboy Bebop for Netflix.
The writers are Steven Maeda (Lost, Lie to Me, X-Files) and Matt Owen (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Luke Cage) who will also be Executive Producers along with manga author Eiichiro Oda.

Are you looking forward to this Netflix project or do you worry that One Piece will be one of those anime that proves impossible (or unwise) to convert to live-action?
